Ten Most Popular Quotes About Mothers

We all owe a debt of gratitude to our parents, who brought us into this world, provided for our safety and health, and raised us with unconditional love. On Mother's Day, the second Sunday in May, we make a special point of letting our mothers know how much we appreciate their nurturing, guidance, and support.

Mother's Day was very different when it was first proposed in 1872. Julia Ward Howe, an American poet and social activist horrified by the senselessness of the Franco-Prussian War, called out to mothers everywhere to oppose violence on the second Sunday in June, a day she called "Mothers' Peace Day". Later, Anna Jarvis and her daughter campaigned to have the holiday declared official, and eventually succeeded in 1914.

So, in honor of moms everywhere, we bring you our top ten quotes about mothers and motherhood...
