• We read slightly more slowly when reading off a computer monitor compared with reading off a page.
• The speed of an average reader is 250 words per minute. A good reader reads 400 or more words per minute.
• In a December 2004 Harris poll about adult leisure activities, reading topped the list of pastimes. Thirty-five percent of respondents listed it as their favorite way to spend time.
